5 Tips for a Summer Glow
ZoomIn summer my skin behaves completely differently than during the rest of the year. Because of the intense heat, the increased sweating and the stronger UV radiation, I always adjust my routine a little during this time. I don't swap everything out — I'd rather adapt my products to what my skin actually needs at the moment.
1. Gentle cleansing so my skin can breathe
In the heat, skin can produce more sebum, and on top of that, sweat, sunscreen and the dirt that builds up during the day accumulate more easily. That's why a thorough but gentle facial cleanse morning and night is especially important to me.
I don't believe in harsh, drying cleansers, because they can easily throw off the skin's balance. Instead I choose a cleanser that effectively removes impurities without leaving my skin feeling tight.
2. I never skip hydration, even in summer
Many people think oily skin doesn't need a moisturizer, but the summer heat can easily dehydrate the skin. In this season I use light, fast-absorbing formulas, such as a hyaluronic acid serum and a gel moisturizer, that don't weigh my skin down.
3. Sunscreen is the most important step in my routine
In summer I pay even more attention to sun protection. In the morning I apply sunscreen generously, and if I spend a longer time outdoors, I reapply it regularly — especially after sweating, swimming or toweling off.
4. A little refresh during the day goes a long way
A hydrating face mist can pleasantly refresh the skin in the heat, especially if I'm outdoors a lot or in an air-conditioned room. It's not a mandatory step, but it does a lot for my comfort.
5. In the evening, soothing the skin takes center stage
After a long summer day, I like to support my skin with ingredients like panthenol, centella asiatica or aloe vera. These can help calm stressed skin and support the regeneration of the skin barrier.
Wrapping up
For me, summer skincare isn't about building a completely new routine, but about adapting to my skin's changing needs. Gentle cleansing, light hydration and consistent sun protection are a combination that works for me every single year.
Do you change anything in your skincare routine in summer, or do you use the same products all year round?
