A Simple Routine That Actually Works

A Simple Routine That Actually WorksZoom

Over the past few weeks, I've been following a streamlined yet intentional skincare routine that has brought visible change to the condition of my skin. My focus wasn't on the number of products, but on making sure every single step had a real purpose.

My goal was clear: strengthen the skin barrier, restore my skin's natural radiance, and of course, ensure proper protection for everyday life.

Step 1: Hydration and Skin Barrier Support with a Toner

The first step in my routine is a barrier-restoring fluid that I use as a toner. This step has become essential for me because it instantly calms my skin and helps reduce sensitivity.

Ever since I incorporated it into my routine, my skin irritation has decreased, and my skin reacts in a much more balanced way to other active ingredients as well.

Step 2: Niacinamide – The Core Serum

Niacinamide is an ingredient I can't and don't want to leave out. I'm currently using a higher-concentration (15%) serum that supports my skin on multiple fronts:

  • helps reduce the appearance of pores
  • contributes to a more even skin tone
  • regulates sebum production

This is the step that delivers truly visible long-term results on combination skin.

Step 3: Vitamin C for Radiance and Protection

Vitamin C is a non-negotiable part of my daytime routine. In this routine, the moisturizer contains the vitamin C active ingredient, which not only boosts the skin's radiance but also provides antioxidant protection.

This is especially important against environmental aggressors and helps the skin look fresher and more vibrant.

Step 4: Sun Protection – Every Single Day

The last, but perhaps most important step is sun protection. For combination and oily skin, I use a lightweight, oil-control SPF50+ sunscreen.

What I love about it:

  • leaves no greasy or shiny layer
  • doesn't clog pores
  • comfortable to wear under makeup

This is the product I simply cannot start my morning without.

Who Is This Routine For?

If your skin is prone to irritation but you don't want to give up active ingredients, this combination can be a great starting point.

The key here is balance: supporting the skin barrier alongside gradually introduced, well-chosen active ingredients.
